Seedless plants, like mosses and ferns have a life cycle in which two generations alternate, the gametophyte generation and the sporophyte generation. Each generation reproduces in a different way. The gametophyte generation reproduces sexually and the sporophyte generation reproduces asexually. This cycle therefore is also considered an alternation between sexual and asexual reproduction.
This diagram may help you:
GAMETOPHYTE GENERATION ----> PRODUCES GAMETANGIA (SEX ORGANS) ----> PRODUCES GAMETES (SEX CELLS)
SPOROPHYTE GENERATION ----> PRODUCES SPORANGIA (ORGANS) ----> PRODUCES SPORES (CELLS)
The most visible parts of mosses are gametophytes. The visible part of ferns are sporophytes.
